The client was WMP.

As I stopped and restarted the stream (using the Stop and Play buttons on
the sever VLC), memory usage kept clocking upwards, multiple MB each time.

It looks like something isn't releasing properly when stopping, then
starting, a live stream.

WinXP, fully service packed,. (Osprey framegrabber).
