Open() seems to be missing the initial call to aout_DeviceReport().
Then again, if the default value is not found in the device enumeration,
there are no ways that the GUI will work properly; it cannot highlight
an item that is not in the list.
Honestly, you should not use OSS. It is old, broken, unfixable and
unmaintained (5 years without a release).
