It appears that there are few Indian languages which are available in VLC media player. Namely, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu. There are two more languages mentioned on the page (Kannada and Odia), but language maintainers are not named. So i am safely assuming that these languages are also not available as yet.

The correct assumption would be more:
I am not maintaining the language list as actively as I wish to.

Since i am new to the processes in VLC project, can someone guide me / help me in contributing to the project. I can be one point contact for these translations.

There is already work on the translation into Kannada:

https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/vlc-trans/

The way to go is:
Create an account at transifex (not open source, but free to use) and request to join the Kannada team.

Here are some additional hints:

There also exists a mailing list dedicated to translation:
translators at videolan.org

Feel free to contact me or this mailing list with any questions
regarding translations.

Best regards
