I agree.  There are many legal uses for the Bittorrent protocol, and the ability to play torrented video files as they’re being downloaded (rather than having to wait for the entire file to be downloaded) would be extremely useful.

VLC already chooses to ignore other bogus lawyer-imposed ‘friction’ - such as software patents (in some countries), and DRM/region codes on DVDs and Blu-Rays.  This would be yet another example.  (In any case, is the Bittorrent protocol really legally banned anywhere?)
