to side step ?  Do you mean to fulfill that requirement ? Well, IMO, the 
documentation does have some flaws.

The tricky thing is that both Mutter and Kwin seem to work without the 
patch, but their behavior is erratic.
Weston is more compliant with the doc since an error is issued.
