Current defaults will make all music and videos without replaygain metadata
way too quiet (compared to system sounds, browser). Changing default from
-7dB to 0 will make tracks with replaygain metadata quieter than regular
ones (-10 to -5 db seems to be common replaygain values for modern music).
Can be fixed by increasing preamp value, but then there is little to no
profit from replaygain. It's better to keep it off by default.

Isn't replaygain is just a metadata? It does not need to work in
pass-through mode. In case someone really need it, canonical way would be
to implement something to directly adjust volume on DAC (TV, analog chain,
...) based on values provided by VLC.


Just a feedback from someone who actually use this feature. No need to
replay.
