Right. That's more annoying to add though, because you only want to
print the notice the first time, you don't want to flood the logs when a
big configuration file is loaded.

But they can still work if they're reimplemented as a control interface
using the newer APIs, right? Besides, the notice doesn't mean to tell
users they can't use the VLM if they have good reasons, but okay, point
taken.
