It appears as though there truly is something wrong on my system with
VideoLAN. Anything I can do to help troubleshoot this?

[time at sakura ~] :) vlc dvd:/dev/hdb
VideoLAN Client - version 0.2.62 Urumov - (c)1996-2000 VideoLAN

intf: interface initialized
vout: video display initialized (16x16, 16/16 bpp)
input: opening dvd:/dev/hdb
vpar error: synchro fifo full, estimations will be biased
PES trashed - fifo full !
PES trashed - fifo full !

(... etc until I kill it)

Somehow X is now eating up about 166MB of my RAM (which may have nothing at
all to do with this, X has been running for some days with Netscape etc):

Oh, and look how busy my system was until just before this. That was all about
VLC doing whatever it was doing.

I'll give some info:

[root at sakura /2install/Video/vlc] # rpm -qa | grep vlc
vlc-0.2.62-1

The system is a 99% normal Mandrake 8.0 b1 installation. XFree86 v4, kernel
2.4.2. The DVD is Three Kings (Warner Bros.)
