   I'm not sure about the problem, but I find it strange that you got
vlc by CVS and it still shows version 0.2.62. Could you try with a more
recent checkout, and make sure that you don't have an old tree lying
around ? It may be unrelated, but a few endianness issues were fixed
since 0.2.62.
