Newcomer question on YUV acceleration

Hi, everybody!

I just got aware of vlc, which compiles fine and
plays most of my DVDs with about 20 frames/sec.
Not to bad at all for something with version number 0.2.63 !!
However, it says: "YUV acceleration unavailable".

I must have missed something, since I even don't
know what YUV acceleration is!

I run a PIII 750 MHz system with kernel 2.2.16,
XFree 4.0.1 and an ATI Rage 128 Mobility card.
I have installed SDL 1.2.0, which otherwise seems
to run fine (apps such as smpeg etc. run ok).
I know that DRI is not yet available for my card,
but has this anything to do with YUV?

All the best
Michael
