vlc configure for Solaris

I'd like to build vlc on Solaris, but the configure script is incorrectly 
failing most of the tests. I've tried running autoconf to regenerate configure 
from configure.in, but there a bunch of missing macros..

Are there aclocal.m4, acinclude.m4 files (for Solaris?) for vlc that define the 
missign configure.in macros, and if so where can I get them?

Has anyone else succesfully built on Solaris?
