I tried xvideo as well. Exactly the same... The thing that gets me is that is
DID work the very first time I tried it (Chapter 3 on Lost in Space, Region
2), but then quit... Last night I thought I'd found a way to get it going by
setting the gamma to 5.0, and that worked for several goes (Also Lost in
Space), but then when I got home, and tried it again the black window appears
again...
I've had a look (And a hack) at the source... I'm not too sure what's going
on... The code seems to ignore the default gamma value in config.h... And
when i check the value ot f_gamma in the setup routines (SetGammaTable), the
f_gamma is set to NAN (Not A Number)... Resetting it at that stage has no
effect either... It's a bit perplexing...
Oh. I also run my XServer at 24 bits... And the default vlc depth is 15 (Or
16) bits... Possibly a problem? Here's my xdpyinfo output if anyone's
interested...
