Point is, that minor differences in code might really matter.
Most programs I compiled, which use Xvideo extension, work
fine with me (XFree 4.0.1 on ATI rage 128 mobility), but
some simply cannot initialize XVideo. They just hang at
the XvQueryExtension() call. For example, this is why
vlc is for me the ultimate choice above xine, which never
was able to initialize my XVdieo extension properly.
And I would definitely like to keep vlc working for me ...
