OK, SLD now installed and configured, vlc shows that it is using it yet the
picture is still jittery with lots of

vout warning: late picture skipped (0x818fb50)

I'd say I'm getting about 1 in 4 frames. Here's a longer output:

VideoLAN Client - version 0.2.91_2001-12-14 Ourumov - (C)1996-2001 VideoLAN

vout warning: late picture skipped (0x818fb50)

messages.

For comparison I also installed the Windows version under Win98 on the same
box (dual boot) and it works great. Excellent picture.

Any other ideas?

David.
