playing VCD / SVCD

Hello,
I am using vlc sucessfully to play DVD's, but I am not able to play VCD's
(SVCD's). When I press F4, I only can choose DVD, the options VCD is disabled,
but the configurations appears to be correct. Obviously the settings for DVD
and VCD are pointing to the same drive, so through different linked names.
