Hi,

I have just compiled and installed vlc on Debian Potato.
Build process was quite OK after exclusion all other GUI except gtk one:

./configure --prefix=/usr \
                --mandir=\$${prefix}/share/man \
                --infodir=\$${prefix}/share/info \
                --disable-gnome --enable-gtk --disable-fb \
                --without-ggi --without-sdl --disable-esd --disable-alsa \
                --disable-qt ; \

Truly speaking I have libsdl version 1.2 installed instead of 1.1 because
many other packages required it.

But when I start vlc there are no video and audio at all.

The only suspicious messages were:

module warning: cannot open /usr/lib/videolan/vlc/xvideo.so
(/usr/lib/videolan/vlc/xvideo.so: undefined symbol: p_main)
module warning: cannot open /usr/lib/videolan/vlc/dsp.so
(/usr/lib/videolan/vlc/dsp.so: undefined symbol: main_GetPszVariable)
module warning: cannot open /usr/lib/videolan/vlc/x11.so
(/usr/lib/videolan/vlc/x11.so: undefined symbol: p_main)
module warning: cannot open /usr/lib/videolan/vlc/dvd-css.so
(/usr/lib/videolan/vlc/dvd-css.so: undefined symbol: input_FileClose)
module warning: cannot open /usr/lib/videolan/vlc/gtk.so
(/usr/lib/videolan/vlc/gtk.so: undefined symbol: p_main)

If anybody have a glue?

PS: I have seen messages that configuration files for Debian
are not perfect (yet?).

Pavel Epifanov.
