   Which version are you trying to compile ? A release tarball or a CVS
version ?

   Also, can you check that you're not stripping the vlc binary too
heavily ? Up to version 0.2.73, plugins require vlc symbols to be
present.

   If it still doesn't work, try to build modules in vlc rather than as
plugins (edit Makefile.opts and put everything that's on the PLUGINS
line in the BUILTINS line).
