vlc gcc 2.95.2, sound and no video

Could you hit 'd', and send the program table dumped on the console ? 
Compiling with --enable-stats might help, too.

Did you make install ? If you don't, the working directory (`pwd`) 
MUST be vlc root directory, e. g. ~/vlc-0.2.63.
