system requirements are significantly related to the bit-rate of the
stream the codec used and to the extent that things like yuv acceleration
are available in your videocard-driver.

You won't be decoding a 2Mb/s mpeg2-stream on a pentium-166 without
dropping some frames... but it does work on a celeron overclocked to
550mhz.
