Hi there,

Glad to hear that i am not the only person facing this problem. I too have
recently upgraded my system to RH 7.2 (from RH 7.1) on my laptop with a
ATI Radeon 3D mobility graphics chip (8 MB Vram). And to get X running i
had compile the latest CVS XFree86 source (4.1.0-3 -> 4.1.99_1)

This are my observations:

1) I cann't install vlc 0.2.91 using the rpm (vlc-0.2.91.rpm) any
longer. It was giving me dependencies problem (libXv.so.1). Looks like RH
7.2 somehow uses higher version of XFree86-libs and this hinders me to
installing the xshared.4.1.x on my box (to get he libXv.so.1).

2) SO i had to compile with VLC source for it work on RH 7.2. When i did
try to play the DVD the video was choppy. It has a lot of lag and
"shakes" a lot. The same DVD was playing pretty good on RH 7.1 with vlc
0.2.91

What could be the problem ?? Still wondering. On contrary to what Jermey
mentioned, i believe that the problem is with the RH 7.2 installation of
some required "libs" which is causing this problem. But may be i am wrong.

regards
