vlc Bug

I downloaded and installed vlc-0.2.83-win32-installer.exe for Win2k and ran
it once.  Half way through the DVD movie, it just froze and stopped
responding.  Task Manager cancelled the program.

When I relaunched the program and opened the disc, nothing happened.  The
program has never worked since.

I uninstalled and reinstalled a few times but the program would not work.

Any ideas as to what's going on and how to fix it?
