<That is because you have not installed the vlc rpm. Now you are missing

No, I mean, I first tried the rpms - they install fine (rpm -ivh
<libdvccss...rpm> and then vlc...rpm and the gui) but they do not work. So
then when I try to delete them afterwards, I get "not installed". Then, I
installed the tarball. That did not work either.
