I tried that stuff several times with several versions,
and I just managed to get it :
First start : vlc -vvvv --vout=xvideo ts://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1234
Then : vlms -d xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1234 -a mpeg toto.mpg
If the file is a "VOB", it seems you should put "-a ac3".
