client crashing on redhat 7.1 / kde

hello,

this redhat 7.1 is everything installed fron redhat cd-rom.
(both kde and gnome)
same results under root/user
same results under kde/gnome

ibm aptiva with pentium iii 500 and 512Meg mem.
installed vlc-0.2.83-1.rh7.i386.rpm tonight
using voodoo video card with 16 meg vid-mem
