libdvdcss versions and libdvdread

Hi,
What's the story with libdvdread and libdvdcss?
I've downloaded the latest of both, but it seems vlc isn't capable of actually
using the latest libdvdcss because it relies on libdvdread, which requires
version 0.0.3.
I'd really like to take advantage of the new features of libdvdcss 1.1.1
because title decryption of region 4 dvds takes ages.
Is this at all possible?
Is there anything out there that does use the latest versions of libdvdcss?

Wait: Did you know that there's a direct correlation between the decline of
Spirograph and the rise in gang activity? Think about it.
