aout warning: audio output is starving, expect glitches

[Draxel]

Recently any VCDs and DIVX's i play in VLC 0.4.x have begun popping and 
clicking during playback. Running through terminal this warning 
continually comes up "aout warning: audio output is starving, expect 
glitches"

I'm running Mac OS X and would like to get rid of this problem any help 
would be greatly appreciated.
