VideoLAN Client v0.4.4 freezes when playing DVDs

Hi. I am having problems playing DVDs in VideoLAN Client v0.4.4. I
compiled and installed:
1. www.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/0.4.4/vlc-0.4.4.tar.gz,
2. www.videolan.org/pub/videolan/libdvdcss/1.2.2/libdvdcss-1.2.2.tar.gz
3. www.videolan.org/pub/videolan/libdvbpsi/0.1.1/rpm/libdvbpsi1-0.1.1-1.i586.rpm
I am using Red Hat Linux v7.2 (default Kernel). I was trying to play Star
Wars: The Phantom of Menace (SW:TPM) and The Lord of the Ring (LOTR) DVDs
for tests. Here is the sample log from SW:TPM DVD:

VideoLAN client (Gtk+ interface) is frozen at this point. I can't close it
the normal way. I have to kill it and use ctrl-c to break out of it:

Both tests had the player stuck and I had to kill it like I noted for
SW:TPM DVD test:
intf error: signal 2 received, exiting - do it again if vlc gets stuck
intf error: user insisted too much, dying badly
What's wrong? The latest versions of Ogle (RPMs) and Xine (from sources)
work just fine. I am really curious how much better VLC is over these two
players. Thank you in advance. :)
