VLC in Mac OSX...fixing Audio Lag

Hey guys!
First, very nice app...thanks alot...it's nice to have something to play
mpeg2 files on the Mac.
I'm having problems accessing the Options in Terminal using Mac OS X.
I'm a newbie to command line...could you just let me know exactly what I
should be typing to move the audio in a negative direction of say,
1000ms..._1000?
I have tried every combination of the [Options} [Parameter][File] that I can
think of...
Do I leave spaces, do I include the - before the A and the -- before the
desync...etc!
Please help me!
