Well, it should. Either from the command-line :
./vlc.app/Contents/MacOS/vlc toto1.avi toto2.avi toto3.avi

Or from the GUI, open your three files in a row, and use the arrows to 
navigate. When VLC gets past the end of one, it will go to the next.
