Playing SVCDs

Is it possible to play SVCDs with vlc? If so, how? I tried directing vlc to
open the mpg2 file from the disc, but I get the message "Read failed
(Operation not permitted)". If I try to reference the disk like I would a
dvd, I get the error "libdvdcss error: failed opening device; dvd error:
dvdcss can't open device". This is while running vlc in Mac OS X. Any help
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
