Zone - Region or some other problem?

Hi,

I am using vlc on linux mandrake 8.1 with XFree86 4.2/0

Works ok mostly.  Wont work with this disc - I get:

|  Multiple segmentation faults occurred; can't display 
|  error dialog

I have a Sony DVD that is set in Windows to Zone 4.  Can I 
change the setting in Linux?  Do I need to? 

Apparantly this DVD cant be changed with firmware - but should 
that bother linux, vlc?
