read stored DVD

Did you autenticate to the DVD drive _before_ copying the files of the
DVD to your hard drive (as explained in the VideoLAN Quickstart). You
can autenticate to the DVD drive by simply reading the DVD from the
drive with vlc (and libdvdcss).
