You could use the dvdread plugin to read vob files stored in a directory
as if they were on the device. Use vlc dvdread:your_directory. This way
the vobs will be read in the right order, and the audio and subtitles
settings won't change when switching from a vob the the following one.

Could you try with the latest cvs version ? VCD input now uses common ps
demux and should handle multilingual VCDs and SVCDs
