5.1-sound with 2ch soundcard

To enable ac3 passthrough in vlc you need the option:
	 --ac3-adec pass

The it should try to open your soundcard in passthrough mode and send
raw spdif frames to your optical output. However, it has not been tested
with MacOS (only with Linux and SBLive! as far as I know).
