will vlc ever run on PS2?

Does anyone know if there will ever be a port of vlc to run on a PS2 - i
don't just mean using the ps2 linux software i mean loading the program onto
an 8 mb memory card for "normal" ps2's - I have a modded ps2 that plays
games on dvd-r & cdr, cd-rw so i just wondered if it was at all possible &
if anyone thinks it will ever happen??
