[vlc] playing m2v and aiff in sync

The default QuickTime and FinalCut Pro's MPEG2 export mechanism
produces two separate files for video and audio. file.m2v and file.aiff.

While vlc opens and plays the m2v file properly, I haven't found a way to
have the player to also play the aiff file along with it without resorting
to muxing the two tracks to either an MPEG containing both tracks or VOB.
Would it be possible to accomplish the simultaneous playing of m2v and
aiff files in the VideoLan client? Considering the level of steps
involved, what is the difficult level of implemention such a feature?
