The DMA of your DVD drive may be disabled. Run `hdparm -d /dev/dvd' to
check this; you can force DMA with `hdparm -d1 /dev/dvd'.
(I assume /dev/dvd links to your DVD drive, it may be /dev/cdrom or
whatever)
