HTTP is not sufficient for delivering MPEG-2. Too much other traffic on
port 80. You will have to use a specific UDP port, such as the default
1234. Also, you will need quite a bit of bandwidth. I recommend >2Mbits.
Thanks!

Subject: [vlc] New to VLC. Problem using HTTP network stream for Apache
server.
Importance: Low
Good Afternoon to you all.
I am new to VLC and need some startup help. I have installed the VLC
program on my Windows2000 mashine. It behaves OK when I display MPEG2
files
locally. Running it throgh my Apache 2 server (HTTP transport) on the
same
mashine behaves strange. It runs but a lot of "early picture skipped"
messages are written to the log and the picture is not updated before
the
clip is finished. The last frame in the clip is then displayed and
frozen
on the display. Trying to do the same thing on Apache 1.X server yealds
the
same result. Compiling the VLC on my Suse 8.1 Linux box and trying
again.
Same result. Downloading the 'preasentation_short.vob' from your ftp
server
and trying it on both windows2000 and Linux gives same result. Sound is
working fine on your 'presentation_short.vob' file. What am I doing
wrong?
