[vlc] Re: New to VLC. Problem using HTTP network stream for Apache server.

This is a known bug and it has been fixed in development versions. You have
3 alternatives: 
1, downgrade. I'm not sure when this bug was introduced, but
it seems to be after 0.4.6. 

2, wait a few days for the next release. 

3, in the prefeneces dialog, in the Miscellaneous tab, select the
access_http module and press configure. Then reduce the caching value. 500
should be fine.
