[vlc] Standard in/standard out? Tee?

Features request?

I was doing a few tests of piping
vlc into ffmpeg, which seems to work
nicely, but I'd like to have a stdout
option for vlc to pipe directly into
ffmpeg. (I'm using a fifo at the moment).

Is this trivial to do? Similarly, I could
pipe some other inputs into vlc, including
something that accesses the V4L device
until vlc has this support built in.

Additionally, it'd be nice to be able to
be viewing or writing video to disk
while passing it to another program.
