[vlc] please help me

hello all,
      I am very new to this mailing list and even very young in the field of Programming. I am in last semester of my post graduate degree MCA(Master of Computer Application.). Please help me by giving me response.
   I have also downloaded vlc 0.5.3(Linux version) and it is working . I can multicast a mpeg file,but I facing some little problem that I dont know the use of webcamera. How can I use it to multicast a live mpeg file.
