VLC hasn't been tested on TSE versions specifically but it is working fine 
with WinNT4/2k/XP server and workstation editions so I don't expect any 
problem there.

Just a quick note about NT4 support. You need to have DirectX3.0 installed 
which means that you need at least SP3 (service pack) installed (afair).
Apparently the directx/waveout audio output of vlc is not working on NT4 so 
you'll need the SDL audio output plugin which is included only with the 
full vlc-0.5.1 package (still available for download).

The decompression will take place on the client side (it would be overkill 
to send raw/uncompressed video over the network anyway).
