These are two of the main improvement areas in the 0.7.0 release.

You could try the first test release of 0.7.0 found here:
ftp://ftp.videolan.org/pub/videolan/testing/vlc-0.7.0-test1/

And see if it is any better.

However, this email is concerning two suggestions which, in my opinion, would make it the only media player I'd ever need to use. First, the wide subtitle support is really amazing, however, I have alot of trouble watching things with softsubs because the VLC subtitles are just white with no outline. If a black outline were to be added that would make it absolutely perfect. Second, I tend to have trouble tracking through a video file. For instance, you click on a point in the video, and the player will not go immediately to that point, it makes what seems to be an arbitrary jump. If you drag the slider bar, then it will move itself to a different spot from where you let go.

However, I have been really impressed by this software and if those two things were added it would really be perfect in my mind. Either way, thanks for all the hard work and I appreciate what you've put out so far.
