Hi all
I have a streaming system, that appears to work fine.
I'm using VLS (0.5.4 Linux) to stream from a Hauppauge PVR350, to a
(windows xp) VLC (0.6.2)
The problem is that, when VLC play's the stream the video stutter's. Not
very much, but it's not fluid. I't seem's to me that the frame's aren't
reproduced whith the same delay (jitter). And sometimes, when there is a
scene shift in the video, there is some kind of decoder problem. It look's
like lag.
I thourgt that the problem were on the server end, and I have try'ed a lot
af different settings, but the problem remained. Then I tryed to use the
DumpStream feature in VLC, and when the Dumpfile is played back, the video
was perfect, no dropped fames, no jitter, just perfect. So i guess that the
problem is with VLC.
Are the any difference in the way VLC handles the MPEG2 decoder, when
playing files, and when playing a stream?
The cpu load on the client (VLC end) is about 35%, and the network load is
10Mbit (10%).
The load on the server end is not worth mentioning (10% cpu)
Best regards
