[vlc] buffering?

Anyone have any idea why this doesn't work with a PVR-350 card (a mpeg2 
decoder) in Linux?


vlc --sout '#std{access=file,mux=ps,url=/dev/video16}'   udp://@233.45.17.123


But this does.

vlc --sout '#std{access=file,mux=ps,url=/dev/stdout}'   udp://@233.45.17.123 |
dd of=/dev/video16 ibs=16k obs=16k




Symptoms are that no video is displayed.  Anything I can do to make it work?

Note:  my experience has been that the PVR-350 card works well only with 
program
streams, not transport streams.
