Since this is an English mailing list chances to get a reply increase 
while asking in English...

"I am running MacOS X 10.2.3 on a 400 MHz Mac with 704 MByte of RAM. The 
graphics adapter is an ATI 8500. While starting VLC, only the icon is 
flashing - nothing more. What could be the problem?"
