   This looks like a known bug that was fixed in our CVS. The next
version of VLC will have the fix.

   Okay, any chance you can try with a lower resolution, like 1024x768
then?  Using Ctrl-Alt-Plus/Minus is not enough, the total screen
resolution needs to be changed in XF86Config.
