[vlc] vlc ability to play .ts MPEG2 files from harddrive

Firewire ports on HDTV receivers or D-VHS recorders output MPEG2 
transport streams.
On a PC you can record and view them under XP.
e.g.: http://www.webtc.com/DVHS/default.htm
I wonder if vlc can be used to play these under MacOSX, although I 
don't know how to get these through the firewire onto the hard drive? jh
