Many thanks for your explainations and suggestions. I was far from
understanding all of this on my own. :-)
I prefered solution 1 : it preserves the french translation and the gnome
GUI, permiting to maintain my desktop environment focused on the gtk toolkit.
By the way, the thread i opened about libdvdcss crash is confirmed.
I tried all 3 keys retrieving methods proposed by the dvd module without
success. The VLC crashes when retrieving the keys of disc3 from "the fellowship
of the ring : extended set".
