[vlc] libalsa.....

Hi,
i have red hat 9 i have installed everything but when i make a streaming between two ipv6 host i have many error.
one is 
cannot open /usr/lib/vlc/audio_output/libalsa.plugin no such file or directory

the other tells me that cannot open /root  /.vlc/vlc.conf or something similar)
i've seen an old message with the same problem but no answer to it.

please help me
